There's another aspect that's missed by most people talking about ecto prices - the prices of 7k or 10k or even 15k all happened in the old age of GW economy. The New Age started with the HardMode+Lootscaling update, Q1-2007 and it caused the value of gold itself rise dramatically and permanently. Prices of anything from before and after this massive upheaval cannot be rightfully compared. Now even if the nerfage will be massive the prices won't go past 6k real market value. Short huge price spike is to be expected upon the announcement of a nerf, obviously, but it won't last long.
Keep in mind that ectos were ALWAYS farmable in the history of GW, remember 55+SS or plenty of different smites farming builds? They're still here and I don't see them going anywhere.

I dont buy this. Ecto prices were fluctuating at 5,5K-6K before the Ursan Nerf. The Ecto price started to drop during the time that Ursan Blessing was the skill to use in the UWSC runs, Then SF and UWSC came and teh price dropped even further. SF was nerfed, so that only Sin primaries could use it and the price went up a bit again.
The Ecto price has been going up for a while again, not only since the new quests were implemented (even before the recent UW quest changes).

This is why I suspect that the Ecto prices are not coppled to the player base spending and buying activities, but controlled artificially. Maybe King Frozenwind is dealing insider stocks now.

agreed but i think what he is trying to say is that cant be the reason because UWSC isnt really nerfed yet, but that statement is false

its the same situation as the gas price spike a year or so ago. Although we still had plenty gas people anticipated that there would be a shortage and that alone was enough to drive prices up, although it is through the farmers hording ectos in the game while the gas crisis was through people buying gas bonds (or whatever its called, basically like stocks but in gas itself) at higher prices.

Well it's not the price of the ectos that bothers me, I'm worried about items which usually are being sold for ectos (braces, rare minis etc). The prices are not adjusted and it will take a lot of time to get that done (if)
I remember trader selling ectos for 3.8 a while back, 15k too (as someone mentioned). This is the very reason I don't like to invest in them, it's a volatile market and having a pile of them can give plenty of sleepless nights

But anywyas. i cant belive that some ppl think SF/uwsc will be nerfed as Halloween finale.. Ecto raising wont bother me.. sure i dont even have ectos that id make any profit from it raising. but tbh, ecto value dont matter. its just thing used to do 100k+ trader mostly.. .. and higher the value. better. as it takes less room keep ectos then.. compare that if ectos at 5k. and ectos at 15k.. you need 3 stacks on inv when at 5k. but just 1 stack when 15k.. ..

On-topic: What happens happens. If ectos hit 8-10k per and stays there then so be it. I am ready to accept any change that is thrown at us in-game.

Man suckage. Good thing I got my obbi armor a week before all this happened. I never understood people's obessession with hoarding ectos and what not. Thank god I have no use for them, I always preferred pure.

Early 2007 I was buying ectos 9-9.5k each. I moved a house and had no internet for few months. Came back to GW... ectos 5k each
At the end of the day gold is the trading currency in GW not ecto

The only thing ectos are good for are FoW armour. I have long been amused and a little surprised that folks still give a crap about Obsidian since so many people have it. Thus I am also surprised that ectos have any significant value at this stage in the game's lifecycle. There are fewer and fewer new players who aspire to Obby armour, and lots of long time players with more or less everything there is to have. Why is ecto still worth anything at all? <discuss>

people aren't hoarding ecto on purpose... the only people who are SUPER rich have the ability to "hoard" ecto and usually convert it to arms (or beetles if u a freak). They maxed their banks with gold so all they have left is ecto etc.. , they are finishing their title/ item/ minipet collections and basically are done with the game in terms of accomplishments

just add an enviromental effect in the Hall of Judgement where you can't use enchants (like the deep).

I won't kill SC, but it'll be more inline with the current FowSC, which is about 30min and acceptable imo.
